2002: Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, the surviving members of The Doors announced that they would be performing again with Ian Astbury of The Cult singing & Stewart Copeland of The Police on drums.

1995: Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin and widely credited for improving pay and conditions for musicians in dealings with concert promoters died of a heart attack while driving to his home in Eastbourne, U.K. He was 60 years old.

1991: Aerosmith were the first rock band to make a guest appearance on The Simpsons where they performed “Walk This Way” at Moe’s Tavern.

1990: Mick Jagger married his girlfriend of 13 years model Jerry Hall on the island of Bali. The couple would divorce in 1999.

1987: Billy Idol reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the first & only time with a cover of Tommy James and the Shondells’ “Mony Mony”.

1981: Queen and David Bowie reached number one on the U.K. Singles Chart with their collaboration “Under Pressure” which spent two weeks on top of the chart. In the U.S. the song would go on to reach number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.

1980: Don Henley was arrested after a 16 year old girl was found suffering from a drug overdose at his home Los Angeles. Henley would receive a $2,000 fine & two years probation.

1975: Elton John Week was declared in Los Angeles after being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

1974: Marty Balin, after having vowed to never work with Jefferson Airplane again, reunited with Jefferson Starship onstage during a concert at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom.
